Breath and Silence
Integrative Restoration iRest ® Richard C. Miller, PhD
- Observe the body being breathed. Do not intercede. Allow the breath to be as you find it. Do not change or manipulate the breath in any way. Simply observe.
- Flow with the breath, moment - to - moment. Be one with the flowing stream of sensation of inhalation and exhalation.
- Feel how breath dissolves into silence after exhalation. Experience the pause when the breath ceases to be.
- Observe how the breath dissolves into and then is reborn out of the silent stillness.
- Feel this during inhalation as well.
- Then remain with the stillness as each breath is reborn and moves again. Feel stillness as the background in which the breath is the foreground activity.
- Then relinquish attending to the breath. Be with stillness, even as breath continues to move.
- Relinquish observing stillness as an object. Realize that you are Stillness. Be one with Stillness and realize True Nature as Stillness beyond silence; Awareness, Stillness, Being, Presence, Empty yet full.
